Judson A. Smith Celebrates 50 Years

The company will be hosting several celebrations throughout the year to commemorate the anniversary.

ATW Companies Inc. is celebrating the golden anniversary of its subsidiary, Judson A. Smith, a highly specialized tube fabricator and machined component manufacturer based in Boyertown, Pa.

The company was founded in 1961 with four employees, and was established in what had been a stable carriage house owned by the Boyer Family of Boyertown. Since its incorporation in 1962, Judson Smith has grown to a 40,000-square-foot facility with 160 employees working a three shift operation. The company was acquired by ATW in 1983.

Judson’s initial products were coil forms and pointer tubing for analog meters used in electronics. Over the past 50 years, the company’s product offering has evolved, now including custom metal tube fabrication and machined components for many applications in the medical device, aerospace, automotive, and electronics represent markets. Certified to both ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003 standards, Judson aggregates a range of specialized capabilities in one location, including the ability to hold extremely tight tolerances.

“I am proud to celebrate this milestone with Judson A. Smith, and especially to pay homage to their remarkable problem solving abilities,” said Peter C. Frost, president and CEO of ATW Companies. “By offering design solutions to help customers move from design concept to market, and working closely with design teams to ensure that parts will work in finished assemblies, the company has established itself as a truly valued partner.”
